Many of us feel that our smiles are most striking when our teeth look especially white, but unfortunately, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and tobacco can leave behind ugly stains. To help you restore your bright, white smile and to give you an added boost of confidence, Bayers Road Dental offers many teeth whitening options at our Halifax location, such as custom whitening kits and in-office treatments.
What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening uses peroxide-based bleaching agents. At home treatments use 3% to 20% peroxide. Meanwhile, in-office treatments use 15% to 45% peroxide. Generally, the longer you keep a whitening solution in your mouth, the whiter it becomes. However, depending on the amount of peroxide applied to your teeth, it should only be left there a short amount of time.
What is the difference between custom whitening trays and in-office treatments?
Custom whitening trays do not contain the same amount of bleaching solutions. In-office treatments are a lot stronger than custom trays. Heat and a special light are used in-office whitening appointments to speed up the process and intensify the bleaching. Our Halifax dentists will assure you that all your concerns are addressed.
How long does teeth whitening last?
Teeth whitening isn’t permanent; but it can last for months, even up to 3 years. However, essentially, this treatment varies from person to person. If someone got a teeth whitening, but continues to drink wine, coffee and smoke tobacco, then the whitening will not last very long. In order to maintain your pearly whites, you must stop drinking staining drinks or eating staining foods.
